  • Duties

    As a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) at Lakeland Bank you will workwith customers to complete their mortgage transactions and be the main point of contact. The ideal candidate has anestablished network of referral business and callson existing clients and business customers to acquire newopportunities for mortgage lending. You will proactively identify and pursue leadsforpotential customers and sell the Bank s mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. The MLOdevelops and maintains a quality network of business relationships with realtors, attorneys, builders and financial consultants. Our successful MLO s utilizes their current customers to build a referral business for new mortgage lending opportunities and understands how to connect with our communities to acquire new customers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct regular sales calls and meet with clients
    • Responds to customer inquiries from referrals and Bank business channels
    • Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data
    • Gather all necessary information to determine customer financing objectives
    • Take loan applications and provides a timely and accurate entry of data into Encompass system for processing and to determine credit ability
    • Provide appropriate proactive and timely follow-up. Calls or meets with borrowers as necessary from processing through loan closing
    • Provide outside "Call Reports" as required or requested.
    • Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining a thorough knowledge of Bank lending programs and procedures
    • Demonstrate commitment to professional ethics, and adhering to all Federal, State and Bank compliance policies while maintaining a professional, courteous demeanor at all times with clients
    • Build relationships with network and Bank staff to promote the Bank and generating good will

    Requirements

    Skiils Required:

    • Minimum of 3 years previous residential mortgage lending experience, including generating self-sourced business and expertise with conforming and non-conforming loans, conventional and FHA loans. Ability to begin producing loans immediately.
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task.
    • Work well independently and under pressure. Abilities to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Has the abilities to communicate clearly and appropriately both verbally and in writing with business partners at all levels.
    • Ability to analyze and comprehend financial data to provide financial alternatives.
    • Willing and able to abide by all applicable regulatory and department practices and procedures.
    • Compliance knowledge to include ATR/QM and TRID
    • Working knowledge of Encompass preferred
    • Must be registered (if currently employed in an MLO capacity) or eligible upon hire to be federally registered with the NMLS.
    • Must be bondable.
    • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

    Employment Eligibility

    All Lakeland Bank employees must be bondable. FBI background checks are required to confirm eligibility for bonding.

    Note: A guilty plea or criminal conviction will not necessarily preclude employment at Lakeland Bank.

    Scheduled Hours

    Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week.

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
